Solo Performing Arts

FIS 2021 in retrospective

For you, the 6th edition of FIS (the 7th edition in my mind).

After a year's hiatus, partly due to the pandemic situation, the FIS - International Solo Festival, sponsored by Cine-Teatro Garrett, takes place under the Guarantee Culture Program.

Throughout the various editions, the construction of a festival capable of providing optimal conditions for artists and audiences has been one of the main focuses of resistance, along with a necessary and diverse program, a constant openness to new partnerships and formats and a desire to promote the interdisciplinary crossing of audiences.

FIS is characterized by close, human contact between a living system that meets to raise ideas and questions, provoke, awaken senses and touch parts that are sometimes dormant. This intimate and direct experience is facilitated by the solo format and the nature of the different spaces with small audiences, where every detail can be experienced and appreciated in detail. Aesthetic and artistic enjoyment as a possible path towards an empathetic society.

Back with more proposals and in new venues, such as the mythical Diana Bar, FIS continues the process of consolidating its foundations in the city. This year, in a year in which culture is still facing serious difficulties and the urgency of encouraging and supporting local creation is intensifying, the responsibility is taken on to generate opportunities where there are few. The idea of subverting the ground is also presented as an unprecedented possibility: theater, circus, dance and music are joined by a multidisciplinary audiovisual project to visit over the three days.

Your presence is essential, because only with you can each chapter make sense. And so, together, we strengthen the cultural fabric of the city.
