Synopsis

"O homem que só pensava em números": dance and mathematics performance premiered in 2011 (trio version), at Teatro de Campo Alegre, Porto, a co-production Companhia Instável and Serviço Educativo da Fundação Ciência e Desenvolvimento, promoted by Porto City Hall.

"O homem que só pensava em números (solo)" is a performance of dance and mathematics, built as an artistic-scientific study, centered on the story of a man who dedicates his entire existence to numbers and their connections. There, in this fantasy world, this man discovers meanings for every thought and movements for every discovery.


Biography

Pedro Carvalho was born in Portimão in 1972. He has a degree in Mathematics Teaching and a Post-Graduation in Games/Mathematics Complements. He is dedicated to the implementation of arts in teaching, developing the concept of Creative Dance/Mathematics. He has collaborated with the Narciso Ferreira Foundation, Núcleo de Experimentação Coreográfica (Porto), Porto2001, Teatro Aveirense, Centro Cultural Vila Flor (Guimarães), among others. He was selected for the Fundação Ilídio Pinho Award "Science at School". His dance training includes the Évora Contemporary Dance Company, the Dance Center of Porto, the Nucleus for Choreographic Experimentation, the Instável Company and the Center in Movement (CEM). He is the founder of Ventos e Tempestades - Associação Cultural. He is currently a dance trainer in the Aesthetic and Artistic Education Program of the Ministry of Education.
