Introduction to Puppet Manipulation Workshop

Synopsis

This workshop is aimed at those who have never had contact with puppet manipulation. It covers the basics of manipulation, the "anatomy" of the puppet and also the manipulator's approach. It's a fun and playful way to get to know the world of manipulating objects.

Hours: from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Target audience: students, adults (aged 14 and over)

Biography

Ivo Bastos was born in 1977.

In 2001, he was part of the casts of "A Queima de Judas", directed by Alan Richardson, and "Autocarro do amor", by Art'Imagem, directed by Pedro Carvalho.

At the end of 2001, together with Ricardo Alves and Rodrigo Santos, he created Palmilha Dentada, taking part in all the company's productions. At the same time, he took part in Shakespeare's "The Night of the Kings", directed by Lee Beagley; "Christmas Carol" by Conor McPherson directed by Nelson Baskerville, "The Silencer" by Jacinto Lucas Pires, "Delimvois" by Ruben Ruibal and "Macbeth" by Shakespeare directed by Marcos Barbosa, "The Factory" and "Cosmos", written and directed by Lautaro Vilo, "Everyone expects to grow old, no one expects to get fired" directed by Sanja Mitrovic and all of them produced by Teatro Oficina. He collaborates as an actor/manipulator in "Histórias do dia e da noite", "O trono saiu à rua" and "Os trabalhos de Hercules" by Jorge Constante Pereira and directed by Raul Constante Pereira, by Limite Zero. With As Entranhas he took part in "Colapso 1.0" directed by Ricardo Moura.

At Antena1, with Palmilha Dentada, he voices the characters in "O Enigma" and "Palmilha News". He is a dubber and announcer for Somnorte, Cinemágica and Porto Editora.

In the movies, he appeared in "Une nuit de chien" by Werner Schroeter; "Assalto ao Santa Maria" by Francisco Manso; "Estrada de Palha" by Rodrigo Areias; "O Facínora" by Paulo Abreu and "Cinesapiens" by Edgar Pêra.

On television, he appeared in "Mulheres de Abril" directed by Henrique Oliveira and in the TVI soap opera "Jardins Proibidos".
