Cine-Teatro Garrett, Sala Principal (Main Room)
A solo performance which revolves around yoga as a new form of self-discipline and biopower. Núria Guiu ironically approaches the practice through a visual iconography that creates a bridge between the Indian masters of the late 19th century, contemporary YouTubers, and the Holi festivals. Spirituality becomes flesh and the immaterial is replaced by the virtual; the internet as a new deity which observes from above.
Núria Guiu is a dancer and choreographer based in Barcelona. As a dancer, she has collaborated with national and international companies. She is a certified professor of Yoga Iyengar and a student of the Degree in Anthropology at the UOC University. As a choreographer she has focused on the relation between body-image-power-digitality. Núria has been touring in venues and festivals such as Hau Hebbel Berlin (Ge), Biennale Lyon (Fr) Oktoberdans (No), Saal Biennale (Ee), Les Plateaux (Fr), Batard Festival (Be), El Grec Festival (Sp), among others. Núria gets the National Culture Award of Catalonia in 2022 as a choreographer focusing on the relationship between dance and the digital environment, always with a socio-anthropological perspective.
