Synopsis
We stir slightly on the surface.
Not to the rhythm of the waves that beat against our chests, but to a blind levelling that reigns supreme.
Walking, wandering, treading.
There was room for gleaning.
Listening, contemplating.
The sea air still penetrates every pore.
The scorned bodies were made by the delay. By touch. By dialogue.
They now slumber in silence.
They carry a memory, a feeling, but also an emptiness.
Biography
Isabel Dores (Porto, 1970) holds a degree (1997) and a master's degree (2021) in Sculpture from FBAUP. She lives and works in a small parish in Vila do Conde, surrounded by silence, animals and plants. Her research focuses on the dialogue between the body and emptiness, as well as their metamorphoses. Her work explores the positive/negative duality. She develops dynamics open to collaborative bodies and appeals to touch and gesture, which often coexist with written text. She creates environments permeated by ephemeral installations, where action, time, and sound confront the viewer. She has participated in solo and group exhibitions since 1991.
