Synopsis

After 18 years without playing due to a hand injury, Yuki Rodrigues returns to action and records a new album. This documentary by João Ganho follows the studio process and how the pianist deals with trauma and her fears regarding this comeback. The soundtrack is by the pianist herself.


Biography

João Ganho was born in Coimbra and showed an early interest in cinema and music. One of his first professional activities was as a film critic for the Jornal de Coimbra newspaper, the weekly magazine As Beiras, and RDP Centro radio station. In Lisbon, he graduated from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema in Cinema - Sound, in 1994. His training included an internship at the SIC television station, where he joined the post-production department and specialised in documentaries.
After several years in television, in 2009 he devoted himself to audio post-production and recording, mixing and mastering music, together with sound design for cinema, where he worked with directors such as José Fonseca e Costa, António de Macedo, Graça Castanheira, Susana de Sousa Dias, and Carlos Coelho da Silva.
In 2023, he conceived the project for his first documentary, Play it Again, Yuki.
